Are ya’ll tired? Or is it just me? TIRED.
Screens are exhausting. Work, fellowship, entertainment–it’s all behind a screen. As an act of resistance, I’m taking my music collection offline and starting a vinyl collection.
Part of the fun in collecting vinyl is the treasure hunt: perusing vintage shops and estate sales in search of analog gems. To launch my quest, I turned to BLK MKT Vintage, a Brooklyn-based antique shop that celebrates Black lived experiences through cultural artifacts. BLK MKT Vintage is truly a love story–a love for Black joy, a love for Black memory, and a love for Black expression.
What better way to start a vinyl collection than by supporting two Black women doing it for the culture? I can’t wait to take these goodies for a spin and check out other Black-owned record stores!
